Zoo FC head coach Herman Iswekha says his side paid for the mistakes they made in the 2-0 defeat to Mathare United on Monday afternoon at the Moi International Sports Center Kasarani.
Two quick goals from Daniel Otieno and John Mwangi helped the Slum Boys pick their first win of the season and condemned Zoo, the only team that was unbeaten in the league to a defeat.
Iswekha now admits that his side made mistakes especially at the back and that they got punished for it.
“We started the game poorly and in the end, we paid for it. We shot ourselves in the foot, we made mistakes especially at the back, we honestly gifted Mathare United two easy goals,” he stated.
Zoo improved after going 2-0 down but still threw away a few chances and Iswekha chided his side for not capitalizing on the opportunities that they created.
“We had our own chances which we failed to utilize. At this level, you cannot afford to be wasteful and my players need to know that,” he added.
Next for Zoo is a home match against Tusker FC and the tactician understands the daunting task that awaits his team.
“We have a few days to prepare and we will have to work on our weak areas. Tusker is a very strong team and we will have to be at our best against them. We have a good team we just need to do a little polishing,” he concluded.
