Gor Mahia’s seven game winning streak was halted by Wazito in this Betking Premier League match played at Thika Stadium on Wednesday.

The match was an entertaining contest with end-to-end action and the score line did not reflect the nature of both teams’ performance.

It was however Wazito who created the better chances and got their first point in five attempts against their opponents.

The teams were sizing up each other early on with neither creating a chance but the game sprung into life ten minutes after its start.

Musa Masika did a good job dribbling past his markers to set up Micheal Owino but his effort went narrowly wide. Some nice interplay on the left set up Kevin Kimani but his effort was saved by Gad Mathews.

Gor Mahia had the best chance from substitute John Macharia but his effort went narrowly wide, much to the relief of goalkeeper Fredrick Odhiambo who was well beaten.

Wazito who had been better at that point nearly got the lead after an excellent double save by Gad Mathews, a fingertip save that deflected off the crossbar and then a good save to deny Maurice Ojwang from the follow up.

The teams came back for the second half still going at each other and the away side had a good chance to get the lead after an excellent though ball found Micheal Owino but he hesitated and Harun Shakava was quick to clear the danger.

Mathews then made a good save to deny Kevin Kimani and seconds later, goalkeeper Fredrick Odhiambo handled the ball outside the box but the hosts could not capitalize from the resultant freekick.

The visitors continued to up their tempo and Mathews had to be alert to keep out Masika’s stinging drive.

The home side nearly took the lead late on after Jules Ulimwengu squared the ball to Macharia but he was quickly swarmed by Wazito’s defenders who cleared the danger to end the game in a goalless draw.
