Wazito FC captain Bernard Ochieng has highlighted the importance of his side’s win over Vihiga United on Friday.
The Francis Kimanzi coached side thrashed the Betking Premier League returnees 3-1 at Utalii Grounds on Friday afternoon to register their first win of the season.
It was a good response from Wazito who suffered a 4-0 defeat in the hands of Kariobangi Sharks in the opening match of the season played a week ago.
Speaking after the match, the former Vihiga United captain hailed his charges’ performance.
“It was important that we respond after last weekend’s setback. I think we played very well especially in the first half, we showed the hunger and determination to win. We got two goals but maybe it should have been more because we had the chances,” he stated.
Ochieng underwent knee surgery in February and the match against his former side was his first in 9 months and he says it felt good to be back in action.
“It feels to be back. Today I played without feeling any pain or discomfort and I am glad that the injury woes are now behind me,” he added.
Next for Ochieng and his Wazito FC side is a match against Posta Rangers scheduled for 13th December.
