A few months ago, it was hard to believe that Sofapaka would be fighting to finish in the top ten position of the Betking Premier League (BPL).
Yet, that is exactly where they find themselves in after a disappointing season and would not have hoped for a worse time to meet Ulinzi Stars who they host on Friday at Utalii grounds.
Sofapaka have not beaten their opponents in the last five games between them, drawing three and losing twice.
They were also bundled out of the Betway cup by their visitors. They have been underwhelming so far after the optimism of their chairman before the league began and it will be interesting to see how they bounce back from that.
They lost by a slim margin against defending champions Gor Mahia and face another side in excellent form.
Ulinzi Stars have won their last three games, their best streak since the league began and will hope to complete the double over their opponents.
They have the least goals in the top ten sides in the league but their strong defense, the meanest in the league is helping them grind out results.
They are further down the league than they would have wanted but a victory will help narrow the gap between them and the sides who are in the top four of the league.
