Bidco United and Ulinzi Stars played out to a 1-1 draw in Saturday’s Football Kenya Federation Premier League early kickoff match at Thika Municipal Stadium.
The match between started off as a cagey affair with neither side threatening the other. By the time the halfway point of the first half as the teams went for the water break, neither team had created any clear-cut chances.
Five minutes before halftime and Bidco United struggling to create anything meaningful, coach Anthony Akhulia made an unexpected triple change, withdrawing his front three of Stephen Waruru, Hillary Shilaho and Batts Awita. Only minutes after the changes, Ulinzi Stars went ahead after Mark Bikokwa capitalized on a well floated ball in the area and he made no mistake to give his side the lead.
It was a sad return for Nyabuti who was making his first return since February since his game ended prematurely as he did not make his way back to the pitch due to injury having been previously introduced in the thirty ninth minute.
Eight minutes into the second half, Nelson Chieta was brought down in the area and center referee Judith Muhonja immediately pointed to the spot for the penalty.
Captain Peter Nzuki stepped up and his effort was spilled by James Saruni but Nzuki reacted fastest and pounced on the ball to level matters for his side.
The game then descended on a succession of fouls and despite seven minutes of added time, neither team was able to get the win.
