Two first half goals from Masita Masuta and Clinton Omondi was all Ulinzi Stars needed to brush aside Kariobangi Sharks 2-0 in this BetKing Premier League (BPL) match played at Narok Stadium on Saturday.

With teams still struggling for match fitness, the game got off to a rather drab start. By the time the center referee called for the first half water break both teams had not recorded any meaningful attempt on either goal. 

It is however Ulinzi who were reinvigorated by the small break in play. In the 28th minute, Masita Masuta found the opening goal of the game that pumped some much needed impetus into the game.

The goal seemingly brought the game alive with tackles flying all over the pitch. Patillah Omotto and Elvis Nandwa picked up cards for both teams within a space of three minutes in the 32nd and 35th minutes respectively.

Ulinzi, determined to extend their dominance in the game, added a second goal through Clinton Omondi to extend the soldier’s cushion in the match as the two teams got into the half time break.

Kariobangi Sharks head coach William Muluya was the first to turn to his bench with his side trailing in the match. He made a triple substitute, bringing in  Tom Teka, Shaphan Oyugi and Peter Lwasa in place of Erick Juma, John Kuol and James Mazembe as early as the 53rd minute determined to chase the game.

Still, the resolute defensive line of Ulinzi was not giving in. Every Sharks foray forward was met with equal resistance as the soldiers kept out any danger. Ulinzi held onto their first half goals to ensure the contest ended 2-0 in their favour as they started on a winning note.
