Ulinzi dispatch Posta Rangers in Nakuru

Ulinzi Stars came from behind to edge Posta Rangers 2-1 in a final day FKF Premier League match played at the ASK Nakuru Showground from 3 pm.

Despite leading 1-0 at the break through Eliud Lokuwam, Posta Rangers could not sustain the soldiers’ second half pressure that saw them score twice through Mark Bikokwa and Oscar Wamalwa.

Lokuwam showed intent in the early stages of the game when he beat Bernard Ongoma but couldn’t find the target with his final effort on 7 minutes. Just as the teams had settled in well, Joshua Nyatini shot from long range only to see his effort kiss the upright and veer off the field of play.

With 8 minutes left of the first half, Lokuwam struck, this time finding the target after a brilliant run in the box. Posta led 1-0 on 37 minutes and held onto this at the breather.

The second half began with a double change for the hosts; Oscar Wamalwa and John Kago coming in for Boniface Onyango and John Njuguna. Seven minutes later, they would be smiling all the way to the restart after Bikokwa arrived well to meet left-back Harun Mwale’s cross.

Mwale would again birth the second, swinging in a cross that was- in the 57th minute, met by substitute Wamalwa for the lead. Posta would respond with a double change that saw the withdrawal of Dennis Oalo and Bernard Ondiek for Gerson Likono and Clinton Kisiavuki.

Only seven minutes were left to play when Coach Stanley Okumbi threw in his final roll of the dice; a three-prong substitution. Jackson Dwang, Steiner Musasia and Amos Kigadi were all thrown in for Lokuwam, Joseph Mbugi and Nyatini. Nothing solid would come out of these as Ulinzi held on to win 2-1 and finish 10th on the log.

Rangers meanhwile, will finish placed 13th on the log.
