Tusker beat Kakamega  Homeboyz 2-0 in an entertaining Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKF-PL) match at Ruaraka ground on Friday.

A first half strike by Eugene Asike and Mike Madoya was important as Tusker made a double over Kakamega Homeboyz to up their quest for the league title.

Kakamega Homeboyz kicked off the match on the stronger side with an early attempt on goal. Alex Opuko dashed past Hillary  Wandera on the left flank played Derrick Onyango through on goal but the striker hit went over the bar with Mvuyekuere Ernest beaten. 

At the quarter-hour mark, Tusker pushed forward and had their first attempt, Muchiri Boniface had a quick run on the right flank unleashed a good shot but David Juma reacted to punch the ball out for safety.

Five minutes later, Muchiri was at it again the Harambee Stars midfielder connected well to Luke Namanda’s delivery but  custodian David Juma reacted well to finger tip off Muchiri’s goal-bandleader .

Four minutes before the half-hour mark Homeboyz attacked again on goal, a well-organized set of passes by the trio of Benjamin Oketch, Shami Kib want, and Alex  Opuko caused Tusker defense trouble but Kibwana’s final effort went straight into Mvuyekure’s arms. 

Two minutes just after the half-hour mark, the Brewers search finally paid off, Eugene Asike tapped in to give Tusker the lead from a goalmouth melee after Rodgers Aloro’s free-kick delivery was poorly cleared by Homeboyz defense.

Five minutes before break Tusker doubled their lead through Mike Madoya, the midfielder perfectly calculated his run to head in past Juma from Aloro’s delivery. 

Homeboyz resumed proceedings the hungrier side, a near attempt on goal by Opuko Alex hit a hard one on goal but Mvuyekure was well placed to collect much to Tusker’s relief.

Homeboyz was at it again, a  quick move down the left flank by Odhiambo David and Collins Odhiambo, Odhiambo then made a beautiful delivery in the penalty area but Kibwana’s effort missed the target going out for a goal kick.

Homeboyz yet again came calling, Kibwana beat  Aloro Rodgers off the ball set Francis Omondi with a quick touch hi a fierce shot but Ernest was quick to react punching off the midfielder’s effort to safety. 

Twenty minutes before normal time Tusker pushed forward, substitute John Macharia and Humphrey Mieno combined well but Macharia’s loop over Juma missed the target by inches. 

Against the run of play  Tusker yet again came close, a good counter-attack through the midfield, Mieno was set through by Macharia but Mieno’s attempt got saved by Juma. 

Homeboyz almost drew a goal back in the game in the dying minutes, a spirited effort by Shami to Opuko but the Ghanaian shot went off the bar as the user collected maximum points and a double over Homeboyz.
