Tusker boosted their title chase with a 4-0 win over Vihiga United in a round 19 BetKing Premier League match played at the Mumias Sports Complex on Sunday.
Goals from Henry Mejja, Kevin Okoth, Chris Ochieng and Rosgers Aloro proved the difference in the clash.
Tusker wasted no time imposing dominance in the tie, physically winning all the battles in the middle of the park and by the fifth minute, Henry Mejja’s inside of the boot effort from close range made it 1-0. Rodgers Aloro had been on the delivery end of the goal.
Muchiri Boniface came close to making it two in the 23rd minute but Mustapha Oduor would have none of it, vicious parrying away the point blank shot. On the opposite end, Steward Omondi tried his luck from outside the box but this went just an inch too wide.
In a half heavily dominated by Tusker, the brewers would seal their stamp of dominance in the opening stanza with Meno Humphrey picking out Kevin Okoth who only had Mustapha to beat. The midfielder tapped home for 2-0.
Tusker led comfortably at the break.
The second half began with three changes, all of them for the hosts as Coach Mike Mururi threw in Patrick Okullo, Mike Isabwa and Dennis Wafula. These came as the trio of Steward Omondi, Lesley Otieno and Kevin Omondi were rested.
Luvanda Lawrence’s 50th minute shot spelled hope for United as Tusker goalkeeper Michael Wanjala was forced to tip it over the bar.
The visitors however, sensing an impending comeback, sealed the tie with a ludicrous Chris Ochieng effort from over 35 yards. Mustapha had been spotted off his line.
In the 72nd minute, Dennis Wafula’s attempted backheel veered just across the goal with the goalkeeper beaten.
Tusker would compound to the hosts woes with a fourth goal in what was the last kick of the game. Rodgers Aloro stepped up to power in from the spot after Prince Ayieko was adjudged to gave handled the ball in the box.
