Whoever comes up tops in Sunday’s round 24 battle between Bandari FC and Nairobi City Stars in Mombasa will move into the BetKing Premier League’s (BPL) Top 5 heading into the final 9 matches of the season.
Both teams are currently tied at 32 points each with Bandari holding down 6th place ahead of 7th placed City Stars.
A win for either team will catapult them to 5th on the log, where they could remain for at least one round depending on how this latest matchweek unfolds.
A majority of the teams have played 22 matches with City Stars one of them and with the completion of this season inching closer, every point is crucial with plenty still left to be decided.
The first leg meeting – the first in the topflight between both teams since 2016 – played at the Kasarani Stadium Annex in December, saw Kawangware based side City Stars secure a 2-0 victory.
Both teams’ Captains were on target on the day but unfortunately for Bandari’s Bernard Odhiambo his goal came at the wrong-end of the pitch.
The loss, part of a four game winless run for the Coastal outfit at the time, expedited Ken Odhiambo’s departure from the club with Andre Cassa Mbungo coming in as his replacement.
A lot will be at stake then on Sunday at the Mbaraki grounds but top of all will be a TOP 5 slot!
