Western Stima were held to a one-all draw by Posta Rangers in Saturday’s BetKing Premier League (BPL) match.
First half goals from Francis Nambute and Mukisa Junior were all each team could take home at the end of 90 minutes.
Nambute struck first. In the very first minute arriving on Stima’s blind side with Cavin Odongo doing the delivery work, the Posta danger man headed powerfully past Richard Aimo in goal for a 1-0 lead.
Stima would need 15 minutes before a proper response and this they did when Yusuf Juma, having replaced injured Vitalis Akumu in the tenth minute, sent in an enticing set-play that was well met by Mukisa to equalise.
Now level, the hosts surged forward for the lead with Baron Oketch proving a handful on the flanks. His troubles on the flanks would see Posta also make a change as Simon Mbugua came on for Elvis Osok. There would, however, be no more goals in the first half.
Coach Abdallah Juma then threw in striker Michael Karamor for Laban Otieno upon the resumption and later on Richdonald Bolo for Promise Chinonso. Clearly attack minded subs as Oketch continued to trouble Rangers.
Coach Stanley Okumbi on the other hand threw in Lopaga for goal scorer Nambute and would in time need to rejig his midfield, resting Alex Luganji for Bernard Ondiek.
The final closing stages of the tie swung into Stima’s favour when a 40-yard Baron Oketch shot bounced off the crossbar. Kelvin Opiyo in goal for Posta, had clearly been beaten.
Both teams had to settle for a point each.
