Western Stima utility full-back Clinton Bulimo is looking at a return to action when the league resumes next weekend after staying out for a month due to an ankle injury. Bulimo, injured during the April stoppage of the BetKing Premier league due to the covid-19 pandemic, is doing better now.
”It has taken a while and I really want to get back playing,” he says
”I hurt my ankle in training in April and it has taken so long to heal. I am however, doing well and I hope I can come back soon and help my team.”
Stima have suffered n the full-back position having to deploy centre-back Bravo Otieno in the slot with very unpleasant returns. Coach Abdallah Juma hoped Bulimo’s return will boost the side’s confidence when the league returns.
”We have suffered in that position mainly because the usual players in the role were out on injury. The new ones were yet to gel with the team’s system of play. If he comes back soon, that will be good because he has been excellent so far,” says Juma.
Bulimo, picked from Kisumu Hot stars and straight into Stima’s first eleven, is playing his first season in the top flight, one he says, was supposed to go just fine until the injury happened.
”It’s an honour to play at the top and I was not afraid at all when I was given the chance. So far, everything was fine, it was just a matter of time before we started. grinding out results,” he adds.
The former Manyatta United captain plays both on the left and right defensive flanks and was impressive in Stima’s 2-0 win over AFC Leopards in the first leg of the season. Stima currently lie 15th on the log and play Nairobi City Stars next.
