Stima-Bidco share spoils in Kisumu

BetKing Premier League newbies Bidco United on Sunday 29th put up a spirited fight to claw a point off hosts Western Stima FC in a round one contest staged at the Moi Stadium in Kisumu from 3 pm.

Boasting experienced acquisitions in the likes of Stephen Waruru, Bidco started off cautious, playing it long into the opponents’ half while the hosts opted to build it from the back.

With enough confidence gained after a barren opening half, a change in the way of Nelson Chieta for Oketch Jack added firepower to the visitors’ attack and Stima full-back Vincent Oluoch was a marked man. He would go into the referee’s book after, not wanting to take it anymore, hacked Chieta outside the box. The resultant free-kick could not find its way in.

Twin save

The visitors perhaps sensed that they could actually grab all three and heavily piled pressure on Stima. Samual Abawa in goal for the hosts had to pull off a twin save from Stephen Waruru to keep his side in the tie.

Little in the way of close cut chances came for Stima as even after the addition of younsters Mark Ochieng and Ali Hamid, Zamu Adisa in goal for the visitors was not too bothered.

Both teams would have to contend with a barren draw on the opening day.
