Spring in Zico’s step after second straight win

Confidence is definitely sky high at Ruaraka based KCB FC following the team’s second straight win in the Betking Premier League and the fine start has attracted plaudits from head coach Zedekiah Zico Otieno.

Henry Onyango fired past an exposed Steven Njunge in the dying minutes of the first half in the game against City Stars on Friday 4th December, to hand the Banker a second win within a week.

For the strong start, Zico had a pat on the back for his charges, lauding their fighting spirit, especially as they went to the game with very little rest after their 3-0 win over Posta Rangers.

“I am definitely happy for the win. We have started the season well and I have to thank my players for a good game. They fought well against a tough opponent with very good and experienced players,” the coach noted.

Recovery time

With the Covid-19 pandemic, this is going to be an extraordinary season. Zico knows and acknowledges it is going to be taxing for players, having not had a proper preseason and with few days to rest. He is hoping he can get favorable periods between matches for players to recover.

“I feel players need more time to prepare for matches. We played on Sunday and then on Friday and considering players haven’t had the best of preparations due to Covid-19 it is a bit hard,” he added.

With a perfect record after two matches, Zico is guaranteed his team will finish at least joint top after Match Day 2. He will however have little time to celebrate, as his team welcomes Kakamega Homeboyz in Match Day 3 action on Saturday 12th December.
