Bandari FC head coach Ken Odhiambo has admitted that his side’s Betking Premier League clash against Sofapaka that was played last Saturday was a tough one despite picking an important 1-0 win at Mbaraki Sports Club.
An Abdallah Hassan first-half goal helped the Dockers pick maximum points in the league opener against a Sofapaka side that has been touted as one of league title favorites this season.
Speaking after the match, Odhiambo, who also serves as the national team, Harambee Stars assistant coach said the Mbaraki showdown was a tough one as Batoto ba Mungu were equally determined to pick maximum points in the game.
“This was a very tough game because Sofapaka is a big team with good players and they really played well because just like us they were determined to win,” he said
Odhiambo further congratulated his players for the hard-fought win although he believes that they should have scored more based on the goal-scoring chances they created.
“But my boys did well, we defended and attacked well, I think we should have scored more because we had the opportunities but the important thing is we got the win and I must commend the boys for that,” he added.
Odhiambo believes that starting the league with a win will act as a confidence boost for his players and will also help build the momentum heading into their future assignments.
“Starting the season with a win is important because it helps build that momentum for the team and confidence of the players heading into our next assignments,” he concluded.
Bandari will take on Tusker at the Moi International Sports Center Kasarani on Saturday afternoon.
