Stanley Okumbi will continue to wait a while longer to claim his first point(s) as coach of Posta Rangers after his side fell 2-1 to Sofapaka FC in a BetKing Premier League (BPL) round 14 fixture played on Sunday at the Kasarani Stadium.
First half goals from Titus Achesa and Lawrence Juma handed Okumbi his second loss in as many matches as head coach of The Mailmen. The former Harambee Stars tactician was appointed at the start of the month to replace Sammy Pamzo Omollo.
Bernard Ondiek, one of Rangers’ mid-season acquisitions, netted the consolation after the hour mark. And even though they pushed for at least a share of the spoils, the damaged had already been done in the first half with Batoto Ba Mungu holding on for the win.
Sofa now move up to eighth place on the log with 18 points after claiming their fifth win while Rangers lie in danger of being sucked into the relegation zone as they remain in 14th place just a point above safety.
