Sofapaka held hosts Kariobangi Sharks to a goalless draw in an early FKF-PL season finale kick-off fixture at Utalii grounds on Sunday.
Sofapaka kicked off proceedings at Utalii of a high and almost got the opener through Lawrence Juma. A good ball through the midfield by Okal found onrushing Juma, the midfielder beat Olwande Samuel off the ball but his final attempt lacked power for an easier pick for Brian Bwire.
At the quarter-hour mark Sofapaka came yet again when Alex Imbusia had an impressive run on the right flank dashed in past Tom Teka to a hard one but rolled out missing from a close range.
Five minutes later Sharks had their first goal attempt at a rough tackle by Okal saw the slum boys awarded a free kick. Douglas Mokaya stepped up but his effort missed the target going over the bar with the keeper beaten.
In the 40th minute, Sofapaka had another chance on goal, Sebastian Sunday delivered a good pass to Lawrence Juma, Juma made a run through Sharks defense but his final attempt missed the target with custodian Bwire beaten.
A minute from additional time, Sofapaka had another chance on goal. Lawrence Juma had a glorious chance to put Sofapaka ahead from Ambrose Sifuna’a delivery but he blasts it over the bar to bring the first half action to a break.
Upon resumption, Sharks began strongly and almost came close to the opener through Daniel Sakari. The defender’s teasing delivery troubled Kevin Omondi but the keeper reacted well to save BatotoBaMungu from going behind in the match.
Six minutes later, Sharks yet again pressed Sofapaka to break the deadlock. A good exchange of passes through midfield by Sakari and Peter Lwasa, the latter set Reagan Odede through on goal but Odede’s failed to score with keeper Omondi Kevin already beaten.
On the 70th minute, Sharks thought they had taken the lead through Petet Lwasa. The former Sofapaka man goal-bound attempt was cleared off the line by Brian Magonya much to Sofapaka’s relief.
Against the run of play, the Sharks had another glorious chance on goal, Daniel Skari beat Titus Achesa delivered in a beautiful cross but Eric Juma failed to direct the ball into the net as the two sides shared the spoils at Utalii.
