Kariobangi Sharks were rampant in the season’s first installment of the Slum Derby, beating Mathare United 6-0 in a week 5 FKFPL encounter staged at the Kasarani Stadium Annex on Sunday.
Felix Oluoch helped himself to a second half hat trick with Eric Mata bagging a brace and Steve Otieno adding the other.
Mathare’s Meshack Muyonga recieved a red card in the first-half for a late lunge on Julius Masaba to set the tone for a difficult afternoon for the Slumboys.
Sharks were quick off the blocks, breaking the deadlock as early as the 3rd minute through Otieno who curled home a sumptuous freekick. The early setback however didn’t deter Mathare and were well in the game up until Muyonga’s dismissal late in the opening stanza.
After the break is where Ezekiel Akwana’s men imploded, conceding five goals in an 18-minute stretch. Three of those goals coming in the 55th, 58th and 59th minutes.
Credit to Sharks’ William Muluya who responded to the man advantage by making two changes at the restart that orchestrated the huge win.
Mata and Henry Juma were introduced at halftime and immediately started tearing at the Mathare backline that looked vulnerable with every foray forward.
Oluoch’s goals now have him sitting pretty atop the scorers log with five strikes so far. Mata also finds himself on that list too, tied for third with three goals to his name.
