Sharks end two game skid with City Stars upset

After losing the last two fixtures, Kariobangi Sharks got back to winning ways on Saturday 30 January as they sealed a nervy 2-1 win over Nairobi City Stars in a round 10 BetKing Premier League (BPL) tie played at the Kasarani Stadium Annex.

Sharks had stumbled in recent weeks to fall away from the leading pack in this season’s title race but a more improved performance on Saturday, that was sealed by league top scorer Eric Kapaito with eight minutes left to play, ensures that they remain hot on the heels of the leaders.

Kapaito netted his 12th goal of the season to add onto Julius Masaba’s opener in the 13th minute that had been cancelled out by Davis Agesa’s first goal of the season that was registered at the half hour mark.

Four points

The win has William Muluya’s men sitting 5th on the standings with 18 points, four points adrift of leaders KCB FC.

City Stars on their part find themselves in 10th place with a similar amount of points. The “Simba wa Nairobi” as the Kawangware based side is commonly referred to by its ardent fans, have had a torrid start to the new year where they have not registered a single win in the five matches they have played. Suffering three losses and managing two draws.
