Shami Kibwana Mwinyi, having had a stellar season with Kakamega Homeboyz in the 2020/21 FKF Premier League season, is on his way out of the club and among Tusker FC’s yet to be named signings.
As Homeboyz’s top scorer in the just concluded season, Shami heads out for fresher challenges and the July player of the month is keen on outdoing himself when the 2021/22 PL season begins.
”It is everyone’s dream to achieve an award like I did in July and all this is hard work as well as enough support from my teammates,” he says regarding his monthly accolade.
The former AFC Leopards and Thika United attacking midfielder believes 2022 will be better for him as he has previously struggled with injuries but currently has a clean bill of health.
”I want more. This was just me playing free of injury and that’s how much I can do when I show up,” adds the man who scored seven goals during the month of July.
Shami, who is now in contention for the league’s midfielder of the year award, helped Homeboyz to 7 wins out of 9 matches in which they hosted at the ASK Nakuru national showground after covid regulations rendered Bukhungu and other stadia un-playable.
Homeboyz ended the season placed 6th on the log and with a 3-2 win over AFC Leopards on the final day, a match in which Shami scored.
