Rupia the hero as Leopards puts Bidco to the sword

Giants AFC Leopards edged out newbies Bidco United 2-0 in a closely contested Betking Premier League match played at the Moi International Sports Center Kasarani on Sunday afternoon.

Striker Elvis Rupia scored both goals in the second half after a tightly fought first half that saw both teams miss a few half chances.

The match started slowly with most of the action taking part in the middle of the park. The first real chance went Leopards’ way in when Tsuma Said unleashed a long-range shot which was easily picked by Zamu Adisa on Bidco goal.

Caleb Olilo attempted another cross-cum-shot but it was equally dealt with by Adisa. Adisa once again stood tall to deny Austin Odhiambo moments later as the visitors kept knocking at Bidco goal.

At the other end, Bidco looked threatening particularly on the break. Piston Mutamba failed to direct his header on target in the 18th minute despite being unmarked in the area. Emmanuel Mogaka unleashed a good shot five minutes before the break but his attempt went wide. The first half ended barren.

Bidco injected a fresh pair of legs upfront after the break withdrawing seasoned striker Nelson Chieta for Pistone Mutamba. Leopards had a great chance to go ahead in the 60th minute but Adisa did well to parry Elvis Rupia’s glancing header over the bar.

Leopards went ahead in the 70th minute though lead striker Elvis Rupia who finished following a quick counter from AFC Leopards. He got his second in the 85th minute to seal the win for Anthony Kimani’s side.

The win moves Leopards to second in the league table with six points, same as leaders KCB. Bidco on the other hand are 8th in the log with one point.
