Posta Rangers held AFC Leopards to a barren draw stalling their ascendancy to the top of the Betking Premier League (BPL) during a match played at Ruaraka on Saturday.
Rangers had the earliest chance with Francis Nambute getting a clear sight of goal but shot straight at AFC Leopards keeper Benjamin Ochan.
The keeper was then called into action soon after a well worked corner routine but tipped the ball away from the lurking Rangers forwards.
Most of the Posta Rangers good moves were coming from their right side and Nambute had another chance but shot straight at Ochan’s arms.
Right at the stroke of halftime in a half Rangers completely dominated, Ochan made an excellent save to keep out Nambute and saved his follow up which was less troubling than the first.
AFC Leopards barely got a sniff in that half and Posta coach Stanley Okumbi will wonder how his side did not have the lead by the halftime break.
AFC Leopards matters were made harder after a red card by Isaac Kipyegon on a foul to the livewire Nambute only four minutes after the break.
The away side then had their best chance in the match after a good cross by Elvis Rupia found Collins Shichenje but his effort went narrowly wide. Despite being one man down, they were more enterprising in attack and had an effort cleared on the line from a corner. They pushed further but despite trying hard they could not win the game and had to settle for the draw.
Coach Stanley Okumbi was glad with the point gained but lamented some of the chances they wasted earlier on. Posta Rangers have tough matches on the horizon but will be buoyed by the point and have now extended their unbeaten run to five games having lost four consecutive games before this unbeaten run.
Leopards coach Patrick Aussems congratulated his players despite going a man down but was not pleased with the condition of the pitch.
Leopards failed to take advantage of Tusker dropping points but are still in a good place since they have a game in hand. A game against the league leaders beckons in ten days but they will have to play Bidco United first over the weekend.
