”I work hard and I believe in myself. Whenever called upon, I always try to deliver.” he says.
Otieno was among the many rookies that Stima roped in at the start of the campaign, most drawn from third tier sides. With results not forthcoming, nearly three fourths of the lot was chopped from the team in the midseason. Otieno was one of the few surviving.
Coach Juma’s entry at Stima saw the signing of experienced player including Nigerian duo of forwards Chinonso Promise and . Otieno, while having to now fight for starting places against experienced players, embraced the new challenge.
”It wasn’t easy. At the start of the season most of us were young so the competition was a little bit friendly. But now, there are a lot of players who have played in the BetKing Premier League for long and getting into the starting team ahead of them is a huge achievement,” he continues.
The former Chipolopolo FC man was the one behind a delicious through ball to on-form Baron Oketch during their dismissal of Wazito FC in April and promises more.
”We aren’t doing so well as a team so more effort is required. This starts with our next game which is Nairobi City Stars,” he concludes.
Stima lost 2-0 to City Stars in the first leg of the campaign and will be keen to redeem themselves when the league returns this weekend.
