Oketch the difference as Stima dispatch Wazito

Western Stima FC recorded only their second win of the season- and a against another BetKing Premier League contender Wazito FC on Saturday evening at the Moi Stadium in Kisumu.

Lining up a horde of ex-Wazito players, Stima assumed the lead in the 28th minute through Baron Oketch and held onto this for the remainder of the contest, bagging three crucial points.

Younsgter Erick Otieno, returning to his home city for he first time since signing for Wazito, hit the upright on 20 minutes to stun keeper Stephen Otieno who was well beaten. His effort though, bounced back into play.

Stima would take this as cue for the visitors’s hunger for an away win and themselves pressed forward, Laban Otieno setting up Oketch with a delicious through ball and the speedy forward drove it in for 1-0 before the half hour mark.

The visitors would have to pull off Vincent Oburu in favour of Michael Owino as they continued to press for the equaliser. Stima would carry the lead into the break.

At the hour mark, more fresh legs would come in, Dennis Ng’ang’a for Ali Hassan Abondo while the hosts responded by throwing in Steve Brian for Rodgers Ouma. In a bid to keep on he pressure upfront at the visiting defence, burly striker Michael Karamor was thrown in for goal scorer Oketch. It’s a tactic that worked for Coach Juma Abdallah’s side as the former Sofapaka man duly kept the visitors at bay, and away from salvaging anything from the clash.

Wazito fell on the road.
