Gor Mahia FC reigned supreme in Kisumu with a 3-1 win over hosts Western Stima FC in a rescheduled BetKing Premier League match played from 3 pm at the Moi Stadium.
Despite being tied in a one-all stalemate at the break- goals scored by Samuel Onyango and Oromcan Villa, Gor came back stronger- pulling off Tito Okello off the bench for a brace that would guide his side to a 2-1 win.
Gor began strongly, building from behind with the hosts content to stay behind the ball.
Ernest Wendo started in the middle of the park and it would take a while before finding Muguna Kenneth just ahead of him. After numerous attempts at breaking through the flanks- unsuccessfully, Samuel Onyango rose to head in a Muguna cross on 22 minutes. The Stima backline comprising Marvin Ayoro and Bravo Otieno had been breached.
Not willing to relent, Stima broke forward- and in the 37th minute, were lucky enough to get a rebound off Boniface Oluoch from Baron Oketch’s shot. Villa Oromcan was just arriving to tap it in for 1-1.
The teams went into the break tied.
The second half began with a Gor Mahia change, Konfor paving way for Okello Tito. This would be the ace, but first- Omalla Benson had to come into the picture in the 60th minute for things to happen.
Tito rose to head home Muguna’s corner kick on 64 minutes, and with four minutes left on the clock, drove home a pile driver past Samuel Odhiambo in goal for Stima to make it 3-1.
It would end this way.
