No Lofty targets for debutants bidco united

Although dreaming the impossible is a big motivator in fueling sporting pursuits, Bidco United head coach Anthony Akhulia is not overly ambitious when it comes to his team’s targets in the BetKing Premier League this season.

After almost two decades in the second tier, this 2020/2021 season is the first time in the club’s history that the Thika based side is taking part in the top tier after gaining promotion from the National Super league where, at the time, they were placed second on the table under the guidance of Akhulia.

Emergence of the novel covid-19 pandemic forced the leagues to be ended prematurely and consequently Bidco were promoted as runners up to Nairobi City Stars in the automatic promotion places.

The head coach has revealed that being newbies, the club is only focused on staying in the league first before setting targets to anything else.

“My target is to survive. I’m not thinking of winning the title or things like that. The first step is to survive so that we can assert ourselves in the league. As people and other teams get to know that we exist in the league, we will also know what it feels like to be in the top flight. After that we can now start building from there and become more ambitious, the head coach stated.
