Namanda late strike sends Tusker to the summit

A Luke Namanda goal with 13 minutes left on the clock handed Tusker FC a slim 1-0 win over Mathare United in a BetKing Premier League (BPL) round 10 encounter played at the Kasarani Stadium Annex on Sunday 31 January.

A tense affair was decided by the former Nzoia Sugar man whose low cut finish from outside the area lifted The Brewers to the top of the standings with 23 points.

Tusker’s win not only has repercussions on the top of the log but at the opposite end also, as it leaves Mathare sitting second from bottom and four points away from safety. The Slumboys though have four games in hand.

Salim Ali’s men will rue the numerous missed chances including a missed penalty by Daniel Otieno.

Tusker also had Henry Meja miss from the spot in an eventful opening stanza.
