Tusker FC winger Luke Namanda was elated with his goal that ended his side’s 4-year winless run against Mathare United.
The Brewers had never beaten the Slum Boys in four years but on Sunday afternoon in Kasarani, the former Nzoia Sugar and Kakamega Homeboyz man ended the woeful run with a late goal against Salim Ali’s charges.
The win also propelled them to the top of the league after KCB settled for a draw against Ulinzi Stars on Saturday afternoon in Nakuru.
In his post-match interview, Namanda expressed his delight at beating United. He also revealed that Coach Robert Matano had made them believe that they would break the jinx heading into the match.
“ I am happy that I scored the winning goal. We were under pressure to deliver this win to our fans after years of searching. The coach told us we are capable of breaking the long win-less jinx against them should we give our best,” he stated.
He also admitted that the goal is a motivation for him to get more in future assignments.
“The goal is a massive motivation for me to add more in the subsequent matches,” he added.
Next for Namanda and the league leaders is a match against in-form Wazito FC. The match will be played on Friday afternoon at Kasarani Annex.
