Coach Nicholas Muyoti notes improvements in his defense after being held to a barren draw by Nzoia Sugar on Saturday at the Bukhungu Stadium. The Kakamega Homeboyz head coach, however, wants goals upfront if at his team is going to replicate last season’s performance in the BetKing Premier League.
Having played one match less than other teams, Muyoti feels it’s a high time his side started picking all the three points on offer whenever they go out for a match.
‘’We have conceded in successive matches and keeping a clean sheet from the derby is commendable. We wanted three points and so we have to work on our striking force,’’ says Muyoti after the match.
Homeboyz, with five points from five matches, languish in the bottom half of the table standings, a stark contrast to last season’s performance where they chased eventual champions Gor Mahia until the final day. Injuries, have however been the order of the day since this season of the BetKing Premier League began and the coach takes note of that.
‘’We haven’t had some of our best players available due to injury and have had to entrust some of the youthful new faces with most matches. So far, they are catching up well and it’s only a matter of time before the team gels together. When the experienced players come back, it will be an added advantage,’’ he continues.
Homeboyz play Tusker next, a home tie at the Bukhungu Stadium on Sunday in round 7 of the BKPL. He is at home and wants all three points.
‘’They are a strong team but we will be at home. So we’ll play for all three points,’’ concludes Muyoti.
