Bidco United played out a drub 0-0 draw against Western Stima on matchday 1 of the 2020/21 BetKing Premier League (BPL) and in reflection some of the team’s stars were left with mixed feelings after the game that marked the Thika based side’s topflight debut.
Forwards Stephen Waruru and Emmanuel Mogaka welcomed the point earned but the duo felt they could have walked away with all three points had the team been more clinical at the Moi Stadium in Kisumu on Sunday.
The point earned has Bidco 7th on the BPL standings.
“Everyone gave a good account of themselves (against Western Stima). We should have taken home all three points but one point is welcome, nonetheless. Our focus is on our next match where hopefully, we can get an even better result,” Waruru is quoted as saying on the club’s Facebook handle.
Waruru joined the club from KCB FC in the run-up to the season and brings with him much needed experience having played for the likes of Sofapaka and Ulinzi Stars and winning a league title with the latter.
His sentiments were echoed by Mogaka who on his part has been with the team throughout their journey in the National Super League (NSL).
He said, “We could have got more out of the game, had we taken all our chances. A point, away, is still a positive result, nonetheless. We need now to bounce back and give a better performance in our next match.”
Anthony Akhulia’s charges will next play hosts to AFC Leopards at the Kasarani Stadium on Sunday with the match expected to receive live broadcast.
