Mathare visit Homeboyz hoping to rise to safety

Mathare United will play Kakamega Homeboyz on Saturday in round 25 of the BetKing Premier League (BPL) where a comfortable win will have them claw their way out of the relegation zone.

Mathare are currently sat at bottom of the BPL standings with 14 points, three adrift of safety and a win tomorrow, at the A.S.K grounds in Nakuru, of three or more goals will see them move out of the drop zone heading into the final nine matches of the season.

For the better part of the season, Frank Ouna’s charges have been locked in the red zone unable to claw their way out but a recent upturn in form has placed them with destiny in their hands.

Two wins

They have won two of their last three matches, beating AFC Leopards 1-0 and fellow relegation rivals Vihiga United 2-1 and will now look to make it all count against a Homeboyz side that has been blowing hot and cold all season.

Nicholas Muyoti’s men won the first-leg fixture at Kasarani 2-1 and have been dominant against the teams below them on the log. It is against teams in the top half that they have struggled against.

A win tomorrow can push them up to 6th on the log.

The game will be the second of a planned double header at the ground and is expected to receive live tv coverage.
