Mathare United defender Martin Ongori will begin light aerobic training this week after recovering from a concussion he sustained during a Betking Premier League (BPL) match against AFC Leopards.
The fullback suffered the injury while challenging for an aerial ball with Leopards’ Washington Munene in the 53rd minute of the encounter at the Ruaraka grounds and for about five minutes after the collision, he lay unresponsive.
The club said on their social media pages, that a CT scan done on the player a day after the incident when the player had complained of severe headache showed no internal damage.
“He remains under the watchful eye of our club doctor, the club announced.The club also gave an update on injuries to other players.
Daniel Otieno: The winger remains sidelined with a thigh injury sustained in the league game against KCB FC on May 19. He has however shown improvement and could return to light training in the coming days.
Martin Werunga: Out indefinitely with an ankle injury sustained in training.
Clifford Alwanga: Has already returned to full training after being out with a knee injury.
Chris Oduor: Has already returned to full training after being out with a knee injury.
Harun Junior: Has massively shown improvement recovering from an ACL tear but still remains a long-term absentee. He is currently undergoing rehabilitation at the gym under the watchful eye of our club trainer Dismas Akwany.
