Mathare United will play host to Sofapaka in round 29 of the BetKing Premier League (BPL) on Saturday and nothing else but a win will suffice.
Mathare sit bottom of the 17 team log heading into their final six matches of the campaign. Frank Ouna’s men have struggled all season and have barely stepped out of the relegation zone, they however have their fate in their hands and now need to win more games than the two teams above them to be assured of another season in the topflight. Saturday’s encounter against Batoto Ba Mungu at the Ruaraka grounds gives them the perfect opportunity to start doing so.
Vihiga United and Western Stima sit five and six points respectively above Mathare and have played two more games than the Slumboys.
Sofapaka have also struggled this season and haven’t lived up to the hype at the start of the campaign that saw many place them as worthy title challengers. Ken Odhiambo’s men find themselves in 13th place, closer to the drop zone than the summit.
They come into tomorrow’s game off the back of a four game winless run and will also be keen to get back to winning ways especially against a team they annihilated 4-2 in the first-leg meeting back in January.
