Mathare close out 20/21 with huge win over Stima

Mathare United brought down the curtains to a difficult 20/21 season for them in sublime fashion on Sunday, thumping relegated Western Stima 5-2 at the Moi Stadium in Kisumu.

Clifford Alwanga helped himself to a brace with Daniel Otieno, Khalid Jumaan and John Mwangi scoring one each. Michael Karamor and Brian Steve netted for Stima.

Sunday was the perfect way to close out the season for Mathare who spent more than 3/4s of it fighting relegation. Frank Ouna’s men wriggled their way out of the red zone in August and now finish the season four points clear of the drop thanks to five wins in six.

The game kicked off emphatically with five of the seven goals being scored in the opening stanza. Daniel Otieno, who has been instrumental for Mathare in their late run, scored after five minutes and after 21 minutes, the game was 2-2

Mathare would switch up the gears after the interval and scored two unanswered goals with Jumaan scoring the pick of the bunch from outside the area.
