Tusker FC head coach Robert Matano says his team is slowly getting its confidence back after registering three wins in a row.
The Ruaraka based side started poorly in its first two matches of the season. They lost to AFC Leopards before settling for a draw against Bandari, they have won all their matches since then.
Matano has attributed this to the growing confidence in his squad.
“We are getting our confidence back. We started badly because of lack of training and now we are catching up so well and I want to congratulate my players,” he said in an interview with the club media.
Matano has however cautioned against over-excitement saying the team needs to build on its current good form.
“It is too early, to say we are done, we need to do more. The league is a marathon, we are happy but we need to do more. …The confidence is high right now and we need to build from it. The players are doing so well and they should maintain, I don’t want them to get excited, we need to get more wins,” he added.
Veteran midfielder Humphrey Mieno came off the bench against Vihiga and altered the tempo of the game and Matano says they want to build his confidence going forward.
“We want to build his confidence so that he can start playing for 90 minutes. He has been away, after corona he did not play in our first two matches because he was not ready and we are trying to bring him back. We know he is an experienced player who can change a game,” he further stated.
