After seeing his side frustrated by a resilient Wazito FC, Tusker FC head coach Robert Matano has described Friday’s 1-1 draw between the two teams as a loss.
The result at the Utalii grounds in the opening act of matchday 18 of the 20/21 BetKing Premier League (BPL) season saw The Brewers fail to extend their grip at the top of the league standings by more than the one point and could lose that hold by the time the round is over.
Tusker have a two-point cushion at the top of the log and could slip-up to third if KCB FC (3rd) and AFC Leopards (4th) win their respective games on Saturday.
After the game Matano said: “It is like we lost this game because I see it as two points dropped rather than one gained. Even though we battled until the end to win the game, we simply couldn’t and conceded an easy goal.”
The two-time league champion also took cause with the officiating of the day, feeling that the centre referee gave too many fouls in the latter stages of the game which made it harder for his charges to get into rhythm.
Tusker are currently experiencing a dip in form and have now won only one of their last five matches after previously managing the season’s best winning streak of seven matches on the spin.
