Nzoia Sugar once again fell on the road- this time to Mathare United in a round 11 BetKing Premier League match.
Right-back Kevin Maliachi, marshalling the sugar millers’ right defensive flank, thinks if they can start getting something off of their away contests, then maybe they will be able to improve on their competitive edge on the table standings.
”We already are playing well at home, playing to win and we do get the victories most times. If we start scoring more goals away from home and tighten our defences, I think we can rise further up,” he says.
Maliachi, a new addition to the sugar millers’ squad for the 2020/21 season, earned his debut in week three against Posta Rangers and has since been a consistent figure for the side even with the coaching changes that saw Ibrahim Shikanda roped in at round 7.
He not only gets the thrill of playing in the top flight but also, wants something to show for it.
”Getting the minutes is good. And consistency is good too but I’d be happier if we were on a good run too. It’s great to win and I want that a lot. I think we have improved tremendously from the initial phase of the season and we will get better,” he adds.
Shikanda’s Nzoia currently occupy 12th position on the BetKing Premier League log with 11 points from 11 matches. They next welcome Kenya Commercial Bank.
