Tusker FC got the better of a stubborn Vihiga United side on matchday 4 of the BetKing Premier League (BPL), winning 1-0 on Sunday 20 December at the outside pitch of the Kasarani Stadium.
Jackson Macharia grabbed the only goal of the game thanks to some instinctive thinking inside the visitors danger area, lofting a cross from Luke Namanda with the narrowest of margins past an onrushing Morgan Alube.
Vihiga also had defender Abisalom Onyango sent-off deep in stoppage time for a second bookable offence while Tusker had keeper Robert Mboya withdrawn in the opening stanza due to injury.
The win now has the Brewers, who have played one more game than their closest rivals, move up to 2nd on the standings with 10 points.
Vihiga on their part continue to struggle with the loss their third of the campaign and which now leaves them in 11th place, separated only by goal difference from the drop zone.
