Nairobi City Stars’ head coach Sanjin Alagic opted to focus on the positives after his team’s second match in the BetKing Premier League ended in a 1-0 loss to KCB at the Kasarani outer pitch on Friday 4th December.
Coming from a 2-0 win over Nzoia Sugar, City Stars was strongly favored as hosts in this match, but Henry Onyango’s strike in the 43rd minute ensured the Bankers secure the Match Day 2 spoils.
An aura of stability has been established at City Stars since Sanjin’s arrival, with the Bosnian coach engineering promotion from the National Super League after four years of trying. His best tactics would however fall short of his opposite number’s – Zedekiah Otieno.
Speaking after the match though disappointed by the result, Sanjin stated his satisfaction at the team’s attitude and general output.
“Of course, losing in painful, but we have positives to pick from the game. For one, the team played well and they showed a good attitude at all times. If they can maintain the same attitude, we will definitely win a lot of points,” he pointed out.
The loss was the eighth that City Stars have taken from 11 matches against KCB since the 2005/06 premier league campaign and leaves them fourth in the standings ahead of the other weekend matches.
In the match, City Stars donned black armbands in respect to the club’s Team Manager Neville Pudo who passed on earlier in the day.
Next up for City Stars will be a home match against Bandari FC, who are set to play Tusker FC on Match Day 2 at the Utalii Sports Club.
