KCB are back at the top of the Betking Premier League (BPL) standings after thrashing visiting Bandari 3-0 at Kasarani on Sunday.
With that win, the bankers did a double over Bandari for the first time with.. Both teams came to the match in good form with KCB unbeaten in their last four with Bandari not tasting defeat in their last seven matches.
KCB were the more threatening side and took an early lead at the quarter hour mark. After a low cross from the left hand side, there seemed to be some miscommunication between Bandari’s Brian Odera and his goalkeeper Justin Ndikumana and David Simiyu made it 1-0 for the bankers.
They could have added their advantage but Henry Onyango blazed his effort over the bar. It did not take long afterwards and after Bandari failed to clear their lines from a corner, Thomas Harun added their second of the day. Bandari had their first shot on target ,a tame free kick at the 37th minute.
KCB continued from where they left off in the first half and almost scored a third after Reagan Otieno attempted a lob but it went off target. The hosts continued pushing forward and after a good attack, Curtis Wekesa had another chance to seal the points but his effort went narrowly wide.
They did not have to wait long though and substitute Derrick Otanga made it three to ensure Bandari could not get back in the game.
Bandari have been poor in the away games played in Nairobi and will have to make amends away to Stima after a poor performance today.
KCB on the other hand are back at the top of the table after nearly four months but will have to navigate a tough run of fixtures starting with their next game where they’ll face the team they have replaced at the top,Tusker.
