Kapaito brace aids Sharks comeback in Kisumu

Kariobangi Sharks edged Western Stima 2-1 in a round 5 BetKing Premier League match played at the Moi Stadium from 3 pm in Kisumu. Coming from behind through a Kapaito Eric brace, Sharks had to fight off the blues after Boniface Omondi had put the ball into his own net.

Stima started strongly on the tackles, and soon had Peter Oudu down injured on two minutes. He would be replaced by Shaphan Oyugi two minutes later. Mazembe John would soon follow in for John Omondi who had been struck down by Austine Wahongo in the 18th minute.

The hosts, while disrupting play from a very swift and fast Sharks side, would occasionally break on the counter but to little avail upfront.

Only Eric Kapaito’s disallowed goal in the 29th minute would be the other highlight of the first half.

In the second half Boniface Omondi turned the ball into his own net in the 55th minute beating his keeper Brian Bwire for Stima’s 1-0 lead.

Sharks pressed forward, as the hosts sought to lock the game but Kapaito- rising to meet Patrick Otieno’s cross in the 70th minute to make matters 1-1.

Buoyed by his equalizer, Kapaito was again on the mark six minutes later, this time- flicking in Daniel Sakari’s cross.

Stima’s attempts to rally back into the tie by bringing in Abdarahman Mango for Laban Otieno bore no fruits as the Sharks stayed resilient to win the tie 2-1.
