Strugglers. That is the word that best describes Wazito and Kariobangi Sharks as they take on each other at Utalii grounds in Wednesday’s BetKing Premier League match.
In the last five games, Wazito, led by Francis Kimanzi, have surprisingly failed to record not even one win to their name, drawing two and losing three a performances that currently rank them last in the league’s form table.
In terms of league standings, the Ricardo Badoer funded side have dropped all the way till 10th position on the log from as high as fourth on the table.
Worryingly, there is cause for concern and added with a reported unrest at the camp in off the pitch issues, Kimanzi will be hoping for a good performance on the field to somewhat quell the tension and the bad performances witnessed.
Kariobangi Sharks on the other hand have lost successive games in their last two matches to lose ground in the continental chase.
But with the timely return of league top scorer Erick Kapaito, the William Muluya coached side will be hoping the 2017 Most Valuable Player and top scorer, who without a shadow of a doubt lifts the team with his presence, will be able to propel them back to winning ways.
Of the 26 times Sharks have scored, fourteen goals have directly come from the former Talanta man. As the team depends on his heroics, the striker will however be hoping to put an end to a five match streak without scoring, his last goal coming way back in February, in a 3-0 win against KCB.
Sharks chances of getting back to winning ways are further boosted with a superior head to head margin heading into the encounter.
Of the four times the clubs have met in the top tier, Sharks have emerged victorious on three occasions with the remaining game ending in a barren draw, stats and performances that Kimanzi and Wazito will obviously want to erase. The game presents a great chance for both sides to get back to form.
