Tusker FC head coach Robert Matano has admitted that his side’s Betking Premier League match against Mathare United was a tough one.
The Brewers moved to the top of the BPL table with a hard-fought 1-0 win over the Slum Boys. Luke Namanda scored the all-important goal for the new league leaders. It was Tusker’s first win over Salim Ali’s charges in four years.
The match had a fair share of twists and turns. Both teams missed easy chances including a penalty each in the first half.
Speaking after the match, Matano admitted that his side started the match slowly but was glad that they managed to contain Mathare in the first stanza before getting a smash-and-grab-win.
“It’s good to win. We didn’t play well in the first half, we started at a low pace but Mathare came all out because they lost their last game. It’s never easy playing a team that has lost its previous matches but we managed to contain them. although we lost some chances including a penalty but came up and got the goal,” he told the club media.
Tusker moved to the helm of BPL table and Matano says he does not feel any pressure being on top of the log for the first time this season.
“The most important thing is we got a goal and won. I have been in such situations many times and so I do not feel any pressure,” he added.
Next for Tusker is a home match against an equally in-form Wazito FC.
