As Premier League clubs continue to prepare their squads ahead of the 2020/21 season kickoff, which is just less than a month away, 12 time Kenyan champions AFC Leopards have taken their preps up a notch by partnering with Galana Oil for the duration of the pre-season.
The deal was announced on Tuesday 6 October and will see Galana Oil, who are the proprietors of Delta fuel service stations in the country, “co-sponsor” Leopards’ preps for the upcoming season.
Ingwe, under the stewardship of Chairman Dan Shikanda, have been busy during this unprecedented times of the Covid 19 pandemic trying to have the club achieve a stable financial situation where they can challenge for league honours and hopefully get their hands on a first Premier League crown in three decades.
For instance the club has been heavily pushing for the purchase of its replica jerseys, a move that has been warmly received by the club’s faithful who have flocked the official Leopards’ store in Nairobi to get their hands on the Umbro manufactured apparels.
Leopards last won the KPL title in 1998 and since then have had to painfully watch rivals Gor Mahia rack up title after title and surpass them as the most decorated club in Kenya. Gor currently stand at league title number 19 and have ended up as champions in seven of the last 10 seasons.
