Third placed AFC Leopards will be seeking to exact revenge and have the last telling laugh against coastal side Bandari when the two sides meet in Friday’s Betking Premier League match at Thika Stadium.
Two goals within the opening thirteen minutes of the game from striker William Wadri ensured that Ingwe ended up going 2-1 down in the first leg encounter played at Mbaraki Grounds, Mombasa.
Coming into the match, Ingwe will be largely be looking to get their house back in order after the heartbreaking loss of tasting defeat in the cup final against their bitter rivals, and thus passing up the chance to represent the country in the continental CAF Confederation Cup.
On top of that, the club will also be seeking to arrest a poor run of that has seen them collect only one win in the last five games where they have lost three and draw one, a dismal performance by all means for a club of Ingwe’s stature.
Bandari on the other hand, come into the match holding a slight superior advantage over Leopards in terms of the two sides’ recent meetings.
In the last five, Bandari have won two while Ingwe have managed only one win, the remaining two ending even. Although that will definitely boost Bandari’s confidence as they search for a win, Ingwe will certainly want to prove a point and to atone for their mistakes and inconsistent recent form.
If Ingwe are to strike, they will need the brilliance of club top scorer Elvis Rupia, who is on fourteen goals currently this season, to inspire them to victory. The Dockers on the other hand will hope Wadri, who has nine goals, can replicate his first leg heroics and help them complete the double over the Leopards.
Whether that will happen is a matter of wait and see. The match kicks off at 15151 EAT at Thika Stadium.
