Homeboyz rope in NSL MVP

Kakamega Homeboyz FC, have- after seeing their key players like Allan Wanga retire, announced the signing of National Super League’s most valuable player Portipher Odhiambo. Odhiambo joins the club alongside full-back Enock Masinza from Kakamega High School.

The duo joins the club just four days after Homeboyz Chairman Cleaophas Shimanyula announced the arrival of five new players. These include Congolse import Yema Mwana (formerly with Bandari), Michael Karamor (Western Stima), Elix Otieno (Shabana), Erick Ambunya (Tusker) and Sunday Mutuku (Sidama Coffee).

The chairman, Mr Shimanyula says he intends to build a very strong team ahead of the 2021/21 FKF Premier League season after losing some key players like former international Allan Wanga and Shami Kibwana.

”We are going for very good signings this time around. Our target is to fight for the league because we have a very able tactician and the boys also did well last season despite the Covid-19 challenges,” says Shimanyula.

Homeboyz finished last campaign placed 6th on the table standings with and emphatic 3-2 win away to AFC Leopards. The club, currently being sponsored by Mozzart Bet, also are hopeful the the betting giants will extend their stay at the club ahead of the new season.

”Mozzart have been of great help to Kakamega Homeboyz and I am hopeful they will stay longer. The boys did well and were very motivated this season,” he adds.

The Bernard Mwalala coached side will begin the season this coming Sunday against the winner of the promotion/relegation playoff contest between Vihiga United and Kenya Police FC.
