GOR MAHIA PILE MORE MISERY ON MATHARE

Gor Mahia edged out Mathare United 1-0 to maintain their push for a top four in Wednesday’s Betking Premier League (BPL) match at Ruaraka grounds.

Mathare United defender Lennox Ogutu scored into his own net to hand the league champions their sixth straight league win. Ogutu directed Alpha Onyango’s left-footed cross into his own net.

The slum boys who recently appointed Frank Ouna as head coach are yet to hand the new man his maiden victory and they continue to be in very big trouble as the season progresses.

Before the match, Ouna had expressed hope that he would turn around the losing streak especially after he had two weeks to rest while Gor Mahia were taking part in the Betway Cup.

The match started on a slow pace as both teams preferred to check out each other and both sets of goalkeepers remained largely untested for a good part of the match.

It was the slum boys who had the first break in the match with Tyson Otieno breaking in an attempt to score but his effort caused no trouble in the 35th minute.

Gor Mahia were to score three minutes later and it was the only goal of the match which had promised so much.
