Gor Mahia bounced back from last weekend’s shocking defeat to Vihiga United with a resounding 3-0 whipping of Zoo FC in a Betking Premier League match played at the Moi International Sports Center Kasarani on Wednesday afternoon.
Samuel Onyango opened the scoring in the match before Kenneth Muguna added a second. Sydney Ochieng then completed the rout in stoppage time.
Gor Mahia started the game strongly and went ahead in the 10th minute through Samuel Onyango, the forward controlled a long throw-in from Michael Apudo before firing past Maxwell Mulili on Zoo goal.
The Champions continued to attack. Onyango, Clifton Miheso, and Jules Ulimwengu were adventurous going forward.
Zoo’s first chance of the game came in the 20th minute. Youngster Danson Kiprono dribbled past several players before setting up Collins Neto who failed to find the back of the net with only Boniface Oluoch to beat.
Gor got a second in the 32nd minute through captain Kenneth Muguna. The midfielder fired past Mulili after connecting to a Samuel Onyango delivery from the right.
Zoo showed improvement after the interval. Geoffrey Gichana forced Boniface Oluoch to a save with a ferocious drive from range. At the other end, Muguna forced Mulili to a save with a low drive in the 65th minute.
The tempo of the match went down as the clock ticked. Zoo’s sub Summy Ggogola caused Gor problems in the closing stages of the game but the Kericho-based side could not fire one past Oluoch.
Sydney Ochieng then sealed the win in stoppage time with a thunderous shot from outside the area.
