A chance to avenge a first leg 4-3 defeat will present itself to defending champions Gor Mahia when they take on fourth placed Kariobangi Sharks in the reverse fixture taking place at Thika Stadium on Wednesday afternoon.
For Sharks, that revenge plot will be easier said than done and it is them who will look to take advantage of a once again stuttering Gor who remain out of contention to defend the Betking Premier League title.
Coming into the match, the record Kenyan champions, for the first time this season, have a torrid five match winless run. A streak that has seen the club collect only three points from the last 15.That aside, on top of missing some of its players, the club has also been rocked by the confirmed news that star player Kenneth Muguna will be leaving at the end of the season to Tanzanian side Azam.
The club is still adapting to the departure of Manuel Vaz Pinto and interim head coach Sammy ‘Pamzo’ Omollo will just be taking his second match in charge with the hope of getting his side back to winning ways.
On the flip side, Sharks come into the clash high on confidence and good form after an emphatic 4-0 win in their last fixture saw them leapfrog Gor into fourth position.
If Gor are to plot a successful revenge mission, stopping Eric Kapaito will have to be key in their strategy. The league’s top scorer took his season’s tally to 21 goals following a brace in his last match and will be looking to cause trouble to K’Ogalo just as he did in the first leg where he bagged a couple of goals.
Will Gor end their five game winless run or will Kapaito’s brilliance lead Sharks to a sweet double over the defending champions?
