FROM THE SLUM TO THE BANK-MAZEMBE MOVES TO KCB

Football Kenya Federation Premier League side KCB have announced the capture of skillful winger James Mazembe as their first signing in the current transfer window.

The former Kariobangi Sharks winger has joined the Bankers after an impressive season with Sharks that saw him finish the 2020/2021 campaign with the most assists in the league to his name, creating eleven chances that saw him earn a nomination to the midfielder of the year awards that are set to be awarded on September 14 by Football Kenya Federation.

Before joining Sharks, the former U20 Kenyan international was in the books of Zoo on loan from Green Commandos before an agreement was reached for him to join his former side back in 2017.

After four years at Sharks, the winger was among over ten players released by William Muluya’s Sharks after the conclusion of the 2020/2021 season.

In a post on their social media portals on Thursday evening, KCB, who finished in second place just three points behind champions Tusker confirmed the capture of the winger.

“Our first acquisition of this transfer window. Offensive Midfielder James Mazembe has signed with us.Welcome to the Lion’s Den!” the club posted.

Despite confirming his signature, the Zedekiah ‘Zico’ Otieno did not state the length of the contract offered to the 2017 school games Most Valuable Player.

Mazembe is expected to compete for places with David ‘Messi’ Ambulu and Reagan Otieno who are normally lined up in his preferred left wing position.
